The person behind the projects

A life in songs and stories

I created William Adams Creative Works to bring together the songs, poems and stories I have written throughout my life. If you have stumbled across something of mine and wondered who was behind it, I hope these pages will help you discover a little about me, what inspired the work, and the stories behind its creation.

I live in Weymouth, Dorset, on England’s south coast, where I have spent most of my life. The town, the sea and the beautiful coastline have been constant companions and a lasting source of inspiration.

Poetry and a love of music came first. Looking back, I think almost everything I have created has grown from those two things: the pleasure of finding the right words, and the feeling that music can give them.

My voice was my first instrument, and the one I trained to use. I taught myself piano, with the occasional lesson, and took up guitar later in life. Most of the singing on my recordings is my own, while much of the instrumental playing has come from the talented musicians I have been fortunate to work with. In some of my later projects, AI has also become part of the creative process.

Together, these pages are a record of a life spent making things — and a way of sharing the people, places and ideas that helped bring them into being.
